CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) DEPARTMENT PROCEDURES

In the best interest of the health and safety of our community, the Thayer Police Department will be implementing the following precautionary measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These measures are in response to the existence of the State of Emergency that exists on both the state and national level as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recommendations of the CDC

Effective immediately, Thayer Police Department will be scaling back on responding to routine medical calls. The police department will also take all non-emergency calls for service over the phone including but not limited to:

• Animal Complaints

• Delayed Reporting of Private Property Auto Accidents with no injuries
• Civil Matters
• Forgery/ Counterfeit
• Fraud
• Harassment
• Juvenile Issues
• Miscellaneous Ordinance Violations
• Violations not in progress such as Peace Disturbance , Property Damage, and Theft
• Other non-emergency calls.

Officers for the Thayer Police Department will continue to patrol and will still respond to emergency calls.

However, officers will attempt to practice social distancing recommendations made by health officials and the CDC.

If Thayer Police Officers respond to your home, they will ask that you come outside your residence and will maintain a 6-10 foot distance. This effort is intended to limit exposure to Officers from potentially infected people as much as possible while providing police services and maintaining a healthy police force.

We ask that instead of coming to the police department to report issues, call us at 417-264-3819 and speak with dispatch.

Thank you for understanding and for doing your part to help us prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community by practicing social distancing and limiting in-person Contact.
